Rare Omega Speedmaster Professional Apollo XI 1969 Tribute to Astronauts crafted in 18k yellow gold, Ref. 145.022-69. A limited edition model released in 1969 to commemorate man’s first steps on the moon.
It is the first solid gold Speedmaster as well as the first numbered edition for Speedmaster. Only 1,104 pieces were made and this example is number 5XX, engraved on the special tribute caseback.
This watch also features the hand-wound caliber 861, a solid gold dial (“OM Swiss Made OM”) and original burgundy DON bezel that has faded naturally with time. The solid gold case (dia. 42mm) and bracelet remain unpolished.
